Missing tax statements
"Mystery of the Month!" What happened to a portion of the Quincy residents' property tax statements?
After talking to some friends, I realized that I had not received my property tax statement from the Grant County Treasurer.
Unfortunately, I didn't call the Treasurer's office until May 2. I subsequently found out that I was not the only one that had not received my statement from the Quincy area. I inquired as to the amount - plus the fine (which didn't seem quite fair when I hadn't even received the statement).
I voiced my objection, but was told that I should call the post office to issue a complaint.x86 I did this, but it does seem strange to me that if it was the post office's problem why were people from different postal routes among the ones not receiving their statements? Oh well, as I said, it's a mystery!
x86The bottom line is, if you have not received your property tax statement, you might want to call the Grant County Treasurer's office and request the amount you owe before the fine increases your taxes again next month.
