Bank to hold annual supply drive

The staff at the Quincy branch of Washington Trust Bank is holding its annual school supply drive for Quincy area schools.

The drive, which runs through Aug. 15, collects supplies such as pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, backpacks and many other items, as well as money.

The money is used to purchase supplies that aren’t raised during the drive. Then the supplies are delivered to the local schools. They are used by students who are unable to purchase their own supplies.

Also, some of the money is given to Quincy Junior High School and Quincy High School to help needy students cover the cost of participating in ASB programs, said Jan Meek, a WTB employee.

Meek said the community has been very supportive of the program, which has helped make a difference in the education of many local students.

Donations can be dropped off at the bank, at 509 Central Ave. S. For information, call 787-3582.
