Boys pick up key win over Wildcats
The Jacks avenged an earlier loss to Toppenish and in the process kept their district basketball hopes alive on Saturday night.
The key was turnovers - or should we say, the lack thereof. Quincy had just two turnovers in the game and both were late in the fourth quarter of their 59-32 drubbing of the Wildcats.
“We had no turnovers until the final minutes,” coach Wade Petersen said. “It was just a good game across the board."

The night before, Quincy lost to Prosser 61-47.
Quincy travels to Grandview Friday and East Valley on Saturday.

The Jacks (2-10) built a 10-point lead heading into halftime and maintained the difference throughout the third quarter. Luke Grigg (four rebounds) scored 10 of his 18 points in the first half.
This led to Quincy’s most dominate fourth quarter of the season. The Jacks allowed just three points to the Wildcats (2-10) and scored 20 points themselves.
Jay Cedergreen (18 points, nine rebounds) scored the first seven points of the quarter and extended the lead to 46-29. The Jacks made four field goals (two by Cedergreen and two by Merced Maciel) and sank a dozen free throws in the final eight minutes.
The final shots came from Vince Lopez, who went to the line to shoot a pair of freebies after a second technical foul on Toppenish coach Joseph Mesplie. He sank both and the crowd rose to their feet in cheers as the Jacks closed out their 27-point win.
