City agrees to library district’s proposed rate of reimbursement

At the urging of Mayor Jim Hemberry, the Quincy City Council, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, approved a proposal by the North Central Regional Library to reimburse the city for its expenses in operating the new Quincy Public Library based on the square-footage of the building.

Under the old agreement for the old library, NCRL had been reimbursing the city on the square-footage of the building and some of the grounds. The new proposal covers just the 9,087 square feet of the new building.

“I still have some concerns, but not about this issue,” Hemberry told the council.

In other library news, the council agreed to purchase $15,000 in window treatments for the new library building, which will help cut down on some of the glare problems caused by the sun on the south- and west-facing windows of the building. The treatments should be installed at the library before spring.
