Clemente is a part of Quincy

Clemente Corona, manager of QMS, enjoys being in Quincy.

Clemente Corona loves the wide open spaces that a place like the Quincy Valley can provide.

“I have five acres at home, just outside of Quincy, and I love it,” he said. “I’m happy here. There’s a lot of good people around here.”

Corona moved here from Zillah when he heard that his company would be purchasing QMS Auto Supply. He volunteered to transfer because several of his family members were moving to the area.

“Everything just kind of worked out,” he said.

Corona is now the QMS store manager.

“I do some outside sales, some counter sales, customer relations, just basically run the place,” he said. “I enjoy the job because of the people who come in. We’ve befriended quite a few people. I like the small-town people. They’re great. I’ve learned a lot, but I never stop learning. It’s like the old saying, you learn something new every day. There’s a different challenge every day.”

Corona wasn’t always a car expert, however.

He grew up in Toppenish and performed farm labor when he was young, but in 1991 he was offered a job at Mr. T’s Auto Parts in Toppenish.

He worked there for eight years and never returned to the fields.

Corona’s main hobby partly extends from his work. He likes to perform electrical work on vehicles.

“I just kind of started that on my own,” he said. “I started working on my own vehicles, and from there it escalated to working on other cars as well.”

He also enjoys spending time with his three children, ages 17, 9 and 6, and fishing.

“I really like going out to the Quincy Lakes,” he said. “It’s pretty peaceful and relaxing.”
