Thanks Claws & Paws

With all the drama regarding the issues with the city and Claws & Paws in the past few weeks. I would like a few words.

I want to personally thank both the city and Claws & Paws for all that you have done in the past few years to help the homeless. The city upgraded the shelter kennels and put gravel to help with possible diseases. Claws & Paws worked with many other shelters around the state in adopting or transferring animals that were not fit to adopt here, or overload. I was personally involved with both entities, I was a volunteer for a bit, then worked for the city for the shelter. I can tell you that both groups served as a rescue for the animals. They both did what they could to help, the best they could. Claws & Paws had limited resources in regards to volunteering to help with anything, mainly cleaning. They did the best they could with what they had. They shouldn’t be shamed for that.

I got to know each one of the volunteers present and past and each one had a love for what they did. They helped the ones that needed help, they helped our furry companions that roam our streets. Don’t forget them. They adopted out many animals from our community. They did a tremendous job in doing what they believed in. For those people out there who dreamed of an animal shelter, I applaud you and thank you for the many tireless hours your families put into bringing it to what it is today. You know who you are…Thank you.

Now with the new group that has signed with the city to run the animal shelter. The majority of Quincy residents do not know who you are. That’s OK, we are interested in finding out about you. We are curious as to how the shelter will now run. Please help the community in understanding who you are!

Quincy and Claws & Paws, you truly did everything you possibly could to help the helpless. If only we could take back time. I wanted nothing more than to work part-time at first, then I really enjoyed it and wanted full-time. I am sorry I let you guys down. Had I not quit, it probably wouldn’t have turned out this way. We all wanted this.

Thank you, Claws & Paws, for the dedicated several years you provided to our community. Thank you to the City of Quincy for helping provide your support to the community in which you serve.
