County to implement new voter tools
Voters in Grant County will soon be getting new voter tools to help them make more informed balloting decisions.
Grant County is launching a new video voter guide that will enable voters to click on any candidate running for office and watch, read and listen directly from that candidate.
“We are excited that Grant County received this grant to assist disabled voters, military voters and any voter that wants easier access to their balloting information,” said Grant County auditor William Varney.

“We encourage all candidates to participate in the video voter guide.”
The system, called “LiveBallot,” is being deployed in the August primary election and were available at the Grant County elections Web site starting July 18. Candidates wishing to participate may upload a video statement, written text or audio statement directly into the system. There is no fee to the candidate.
The system was paid for by a grant from the Washington Secretary of State and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The department provided the grant funding due to the ability for blind or reading impaired voters to listen to their entire “virtual ballot” and hear statements directly from candidates who have chosen to participate.
The LiveBallot system also offers Grant County residents in the military or overseas to be able to more easily vote.
The system delivers a ballot directly to a military or overseas voter via the Web anywhere they are in the world.
