Dolores Ward

Dolores Ward, 67, former Quincy resident, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010 at Highline Care Center in East Wenatchee.

She was born May 22, 1943 to Alvin Edward and Grace Gertrude (Lalonde) Shawver at Bremerton. She moved with her family to Quincy, where she attended school, graduating from Quincy High School in 1961. Following graduation, she continued her education at beauty school.

Dolores married Douglas Ward in June, 1964; they lived in various states. Dolores returned to Quincy in 1976 and was employed by the Quincy Columbia-Basin Irrigation District from 1977 to 1997.

Dolores had resided at Highline Care Center for the past two years.

She had been a member of the Eastern Star, Quincy Free Methodist Church choir and the Sagebrush Swingers Square Dance Club.

She is survived by her children, Douglas (Mike) and Michelle Ward of St. Augustine, Fla., and Debbie and Doug Kennedy and Cassaundra (Cassi) and Ross Calloway, all of Quincy. Grandchildren are Jasmine and Kyle Jordan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Brandon and Haley Kennedy, and Amanda and Rebecca Calloway, all of Quincy. Great-grandchildren are Caleb and Kylie Jordan of Jacksonville, Fla. Brothers are Rusty and Maryann Shawver of Olympia and Ed and Pranee Shawver of Pattaya, Thailand.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at the Quincy Valley Cemetery. Officiating was Pastor Ed Burns.

The family suggests that memorials be made to the New Life Christian School.

Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy handled the funeral arrangements.
