Fired up about teaching
Kirstin Escure teaches GED and English classes for Big Bend Community College.
Kirstin Escure is a transplant from East Wenatchee who settled down with her husband, Shaun, in the heart of Quincy farmland in 1997.
Escure is a graduate of Wenatchee Valley College and Central Washington University who studied geography with a focus in resource management and botany.

During her summers, Escure fought fires for the Chelan Ranger District.
“I mainly helped to put out a lot of brush fires and small forest fires caused by lightning strikes. We got them under control before they got too big,” said Escure.
Luckily for her, she said, some of the biggest and most dangerous fires on record flared up in 1990 and in 1994 after she left the fire service.
Escure has been heavily involved in education, teaching GED and English classes for Big Bend Community College for the last four years. This year she will continue classes at St. Paul Lutheran Church three nights a week during the school year. Escure enjoys her time at home putting out two little fires of her own, her 6-year-old son, Rami, and 5-year-old Quinn. The family enjoys outdoor activities all year around.
“We enjoy camping, kayaking, 4-wheeling, and skiing on Mission Ridge. Both Rami and Quinn began skiing just before their third birthday.
“I love being in a small town, with access to the big cities, which are only about two hours away. I also love living out here in the country,” said Escure.
