Ila Mae Halterman

Ila Mae Halterman, 83, of Quincy, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010.

She was born June 26, 1927 to Abe B. and Nona (McCann) Richards at Carrington, N.D.

Ila attended school in North Dakota before moving to Walla Walla in 1941, then moved in 1943 to Sunnyside, graduating from high school in 1945.

She attended Yakima Jr. College for two years, where she attended their accounting program.

Ila married Oliver Halterman on Nov. 7, 1947 in Santa Ana, Calif. They moved to Quincy in 1959. She was employed over the years at Sunglow, Quincy Livestock, the USDA, the Quincy School District and Lamb Weston, where she retired in 2000. Ila had volunteered as treasurer for the Quincy Habitat for Humanity for the past several years.

She is survived by her children, Oliver and Kellie Halterman of Yelm, Rich and Lynn Halterman of Bridgeport, Steve and Jeanne Halterman of Arlington, Carl Halterman of Quincy and Sharon and Earl Eisenrich of Spokane; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and sister, Pat and Allen Bartee of Woodinville.

Ila was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 at the Free Methodist Church in Quincy.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Quincy Habitat for Humanity.

Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel in Quincy is in charge of arrangements.
