In our opinion...
On Wednesday, April 23, a boy was struck and injured in a crosswalk on Quincy's F Street.
The boy received broken bones and a concussion. The driver who struck him, Troy Fish, 24, of Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault.

This incident should be a reminder to all of us that we must be aware of pedestrians when we are driving through Quincy.
Too many drivers do not understand the simple concept that the pedestrian has the right of way when he or she is in the crosswalk.
I don't know how many times I have seen people waiting at crosswalks because cars will not stop for them. I have also witnessed many, many close calls where pedestrians were almost mowed down by inattentive drivers. It happens far too often.
Drivers, please pay attention to pedestrians when you are driving our city streets.
Just a moment of inattention or one slight error in judgment could mean the difference between life and death.
