Junior Miss should return to Quincy

It’s been two years since Quincy has had a Junior Miss Program. That’s two years too long.

Quincy has had a great and longstanding tradition of supporting Junior Miss, which is a wonderful organization that promotes positive values and ideals for young women, as well as money for scholarships.

The program went away in 2006 when two local ladies who had given more than a decade of service to Junior Miss decided they needed to give others in the community the opportunity to volunteer their time and talents to the program.

Unfortunately no one stepped forward to take on the effort and the program languished.

There is still interest in the program. Nine girls who would be eligible to compete in a local program said they were interested in competing.

Despite the interest from contestants and their families, no one has stepped forward to take on the responsibility of planning and organizing the program.

Anyone who is interested is asked to call state chairperson Danielle Kallaher at (509) 334-0561.

Junior Miss is too good a program to let slip away.
