Lady grapplers rebound after Friday night woes
Rosie Gudino battles a Warden wrestler last Friday.
The Lady Jacks sputtered out of the gates last Friday night in their wrestling dual debut. Warden gave them a crash course on the ins and outs of wrestling and by all accounts it was a hard pill for Quincy to swallow.
For the record - The Lady Cougars pinned their way to a 66-0 win.
But the Lady Jacks bounced back the following day at the Bob Mars Invite in Kennewick. The girls wrestled in the girls/JV side of the tournament and wound up with 10 victories. By all accounts that was a dramatic turnaround in just a half day.

Part of credit goes to assistant coach Nikki Noble, who talked the girls through the Friday fiasco and got them mentally ready for the next day - where they would face girls from CWAC foe Othello.
“On the way back on the bus she talked to us and when we wrestled Saturday we did good," Jajahira Silvas said. "Coach Noble, for a first year wrestling coach, did good. She stepped up.
"We were like really disappointed, but it was pretty exciting when we pinned all the Othello girls on Saturday. It was a great feeling."
The Invite
The Lady Jacks had nine wrestlers on the mats and won 10 matches and lost 11 matches.
The leaders on the day were Cynthia Ramirez (2-1), Victoria Carrizales (2-1) and Alexa Diaz (2-1). The team also had one win from Rosie Gudino (1-2), Steph Chavarrin (1-1), Vanessa Paniagua (1-2) and Jahira Silvas (1-0). Others: Deisi Alvarez (0-2) and Maria Jose DeAlva (0-1).
Ramirez (106 pounds) won her first two matches by pin, Carrizales (118 pounds) had a second-period pin and 5-3 win and Diaz (124 pounds) had a 4-0 decision and 1-0 decision, while Silvas had a 10-7 win.
