Librado (Lalo) E. Gonzalez
Librado (Lalo) E. Gonzalez, 59, a longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2010 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Lalo was born Aug. 17, 1950 in Mercedes, Texas to Santos and Cruz Gonzalez. He was the oldest of 14 children. In 1967, he and his family migrated to Quincy. Lalo graduated from Quincy High School. He attended the University of Washington for two years, then entered an apprenticeship through the IBEW electrical union. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Blanca E. Ornelas. In 1975, the family moved to Moses Lake. Lalo and Blanca had four children, Rosemary, Nano, Tito and Gabriel. Lalo was a proud union member. He worked for Grant County PUD for 24 years.
Lalo cherished his time with his family, but especially his grandchildren Alexis, Juan and Javier. Lalo was a caring and giving man who treated everyone as he liked to be treated. He will always be remembered for his encouraging words, his welcoming smile and friendly wave. He loved spending time working in his shop, listening to the oldies and drinking a cold one. He loved it when neighbors and friends stopped by to visit. He was very strong willed and enjoyed a good debate, especially when he knew he was right.

He is survived by his wife, Blanca; his sons Nano (Norma) Gonzalez, Ramstein Air Base Germany; Tito (Jennifer) Gonzalez, Moses Lake, and Gabriel Gonzalez, Moses Lake; his mother, Cruz Gonzalez; his brothers and sisters, Jose Angel (Susana) Gonzalez, Elena Lopez, Rosa Maria Garcia, Eduardo (Cruz) Gonzalez, Ester (Ino) Martinez, Ricardo (Florinda) Gonzalez, Bea (Martin) Perez, Soledad (Roberto) Rodriguez, Carmen Rodriguez, Dalia (Eloy) Gonzalez, Delia (Lonnie) Gonzalez and Adelita (Rick) Gonzalez, all of Texas, and also his grandchildren, Alexis Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez and Javier Gonzalez, and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Domingo Gonzalez; his father, Santos Gonzalez and his daughter, Rosemary Gonzalez.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Father Felipe Pulido as celebrant. Interment will follow in Guarding Angels Cemetery, Moses Lake. Holy rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Visitation will precede the rosary at the church from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory. Carl Nelson
Carl Nelson, 59, died at his home in Soap Lake on July 4, 2010.
He was born Sept. 11, 1950 in Oakland, Calif., to Herbert L. and Anna Lisa (Dahlstrom) Nelson. Carl and his younger brother, (Rolf) Eric, grew up and attended school in Oakland.
In the early 1970s, the family moved to Soap Lake. Carl began his employment with Lamb Weston in Quincy in 1979. He was a valuable employee and a very dependable co-worker.
Carl liked to fish, camp and play scratch tickets. He was a good friend and will be deeply missed by his co-workers, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at the Soap Lake Cemetery.
Nicoles Funeral Home in Ephrata assisted with arrangements.
