Local youths play Spokane's Musicfest
Spokane's Musicfest was the second week in May. One thousand students from around the Northwest, including Washington, Montana, Idaho and Oregon, participated in piano, organ, brass, flute, guitar, reed, string, ballet and voice. Piano is the largest division, with over 600 participants.
Musicfest has a very high level of competition with adjudicators coming from all over the United States. The solo division is based on the age of the student and the musical era of the piece being performed.
There is also a sight reading, quick study and ensemble division.
