Looking back into Quincy's past: July 1
10 years ago: June 29, 2000
Firefighters spent almost two days putting out a fire in the Bishop Flats/Ancient Lakes area.
The fire started along the Columbia River and crept up the hillside, over the basalt cliffs and into the Lakes area, burning between 1,000 and 1,500 acres.

20 years ago: July 5, 1990
Appreciation plaques were presented to seven individuals by the Rotary Club for their work on behalf of the Quincy Community Center at the club's installation banquet. They were Ray Conrad, Jack Tobin, Ed Konen, Curt Morris, Mike Flinn, Glenn Martin and Butch Gebers.
Andy Goto was installed as president of the Rotary Club. He succeeds Tom Bollinger.
30 years ago: July 3, 1980
The annual Canal Days trap shoot at the Quincy Gun Club was won by Byron McIntyre's team with a score of 190. Ray's Hardware took second with a score of 185.
40 years ago: July 2, 1970
The Babe Ruth team from Quincy was eliminated in the second game of the Spokane tournament Saturday afternoon after defeating Grand Forks, B.C., in the first round.
50 years ago: June 30, 1960
Junior Women's Club members have registered over 500 persons for the Red Cross swimming lessons. No more registrations will be accepted.
60 years ago: June 30, 1950
A jewelry store will be the latest addition to the business houses in Quincy.
Paul L. Anstine of Nez Perce, Idaho, announced this week that he will open the Quincy Jewelry Store with a new stock of jewelry in July.
