Stars and Stripes RV Park will be celebrating the opening of their new driving range on Saturday. The range is 100 yards by 300 yards.

Grant County Sheriff's Corrections Department workers spent the week scraping old paint off the Simmons house. The house is being remodeled into a museum.

Quincy earned its fourth state softball tournament by finishing fourth this season.
30 years ago: May 29, 1980
The Quincy School District has decided to close school for the rest of the school year, due to the effect of ash dust on the buses. Students would have also not been allowed to go out of the building during the day.
40 years ago: May 28, 1970
Winners of the Phillips 66 pitch, hit and throw contest were Edward Ambriz, David Porter, Gary Longwill and Craig Sorenson.
50 years ago: May 26, 1960
The Petal Pushers Garden Club entertained the Wa-Mah-Tan-Ta Campfire Group. A picnic was held at the home of Mrs. W. R. Cordell on the afternoon of May 17. Those present were Micki Flinn, Colleen Atwood, Sharon May, Cindy Bepple, Jenny Hayes and Kathy Bassel.

Although Tom and Jerry of cinema fame have long been partners, Quincy is now getting a newly developed "Tom and Jerry" partnership. Tom Martin and Jerry Morris are going together in a newly formed "Martin and Morris Agency."
