Looking back into Quincy's past: Sept. 9

10 years ago: September 7, 2000

Members of the Country Kids 4-H Club in Quincy came home from the Grant County Fair last month with a raft of ribbons for their entries in Arts and Crafts category.

Gail Bacon won Grand Champion for wood carving and beading. Her sister, Elizabeth, was designated Grand Champion for candle making. Katrina Cameron won Grand Champion for her painting.

20 years ago: September 13, 1990

Pat Moore was the winner of the 1970 Chevrolet Impala in a drawing held Saturday. The raffle raised about $4,500 for the Quincy Community Center. The car was donated by Slim Weber with body and paint work done by Gordon Lynch. Ed Konen presented the keys.

30 years ago: September 11, 1980

The Quincy Valley Hospital has obtained an E-Z birthing chair for the delivery room on a trial basis. The unit can be raised to about four feet off the floor and can be tilted in any position from upright to horizontal.

40 years ago: September 10, 1970

Lamb-Weston's Quincy plant has won the company's accident prevention achievement award for the second straight year and John Gomena, vice president of manufacturing, was in Quincy last week to present the award.

50 years ago: September 8, 1960

The Quincy FFA chapter took first place in the livestock judging contest at the Kittitas County Fair in Ellensburg. Members of the team were Dennis Lynch, Keith Ker and Ramon Healy.

60 years ago: September 15, 1950

Mrs. Harry T. Davenport, widely known throughout the Northwest as an outstanding book reviewer, will review "Jubilee Trail" by Gwenn Brilstow before the Quincy Women's Club.
