x93I began working for my father in his construction business when I was 8 years old,x94 said Lopez.

After moving to Quincy, Lopez started his own construction company, Taz Contstruction, with his wife, Adriana. He is a licensed and bonded general contractor.

Fond memories of growing up in his hometown of Juhitlan, Jalisco, Mexico include the freedom to be able to run around and play all over as a small child.

Lopez enjoys Quincyx92s small-town atmosphere and quiet, but he says it is not the same here as where he grew up.

Lopez finished the sixth grade in Mexico and started to work full-time. As a young man he immigrated to California and worked for a large construction firm.

x93In California, lots of people spoke Spanish,x94 explained Lopez.

When he moved to Quincy in 1990, he noted that almost no one spoke Spanish. It was here that he had to learn English.

Lopez met his wife in Mexico and the two corresponded via phone and letters while he lived in the United States and she was still living south. They have been married for 12 years.

x93My wife is the bookkeeper and does the paperwork for our company,x94 said Lopez.

Although Lopez stays busy with his company, he finds time to play soccer with his four boys behind the house he built in Quincy. His parents spend several months a year visiting Quincy and he has two brothers who still reside in Mexico.

x93Ix92d like to find time to travel to see family and friends in Mexico,x94 Lopez said.

The Lopez family, with sons Jesus, age 11; Diego, age 8; Sebastien, age 6, and Albaro, age 5, attends St. Pius X Catholic Church in Quincy.

x93Summer is my busiest time of the year for construction,x94 said Lopez.

His favorite part of building is doing framing work, as he enjoys building from x93scratch, all the way up.x94 Lopez likes working on bigger projects and he hires workers to help him as needed. In addition to building his house, Lopez has also built a duplex and house in Quincy, as well as Ramirezx92 auto shop and office.
