Lundberg's art displayed at library
A well-known promoter of other artists has a showing of her own work in the Mary Kazda Art Space in the Quincy Library.
Rose Lundberg of Soap Lake is currently showing 15 oil paintings, depicting a variety of subjects. The work will be displayed until the end of January.
The diversity is typical of Lundberg, whose artistic interests are varied. There are nature scenes of the Columbia Basin, including a kestrel and a golden eagle; a painting of red-pink bitterroot blossoms; a sagebrush stump; “My Precious Pig;” and a sea picture, “Sea Mums.”

Lundberg paints in her studio in her home. When she is not painting or promoting art in the area with her husband, Alan, she is weaving baskets of pine needles or doing a rare form of Japanese varnished paper basket weaving. These have won acceptance into juried art shows. She has shown her paintings in many galleries in Seattle, Edmonds and Lynnwood as well as the Columbia Basin.
She belongs to several art groups and participates in helping other artists develop their talents.
“I am at a point in my life where I want to see others succeed,” she said. “I love to encourage them. The Art Guild is one of the ways to do that.”
Lundberg and her husband started the Soap Lake Art Guild about four years ago. They feature different artists at each meeting. Artists and non-artists come to learn.
Lundberg paints for her own pleasure. It also brings pleasure to those who admire her paintings.
“My favorites are her stunning seascapes, which are powerful for me because of the atmoshphere and use of color she has painted on her canvas,” said fellow artist Agnes Holloway.
The library is located at 108 B St. SW in Quincy.
