Monument receives musical instruments
Monument Elementary School recently received a donation of several musical instruments through the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. The donated instruments include: three bell kits, five trombones, five flutes, two alto saxophones, five clarinets and five trumpets.
Monument music teacher Bettina Demory submitted the successful request for support through the foundation.
The foundation, named after the movie Mr. Holland’s Opus, donates new and refurbished musical instruments to under-served schools, community music programs and individual students nationwide. It was founded by Michael Kamen, who composed the music for Mr. Holland’s Opus.

The instruments will be used to bolster the Monument Elementary music program.
