Bible seminar at St. Pius X
Beginning this evening (Thursday), St. Pius X Catholic Church will host a Bible seminar titled “A Biblical Blueprint for the Mass.” The presenter, Karlo Broussard, is an enthusiastic and inspirational speaker, and president of The Divine Child Institute for Catechetical Renewal based in Wenatchee. In this seminar, Broussard demonstrates that the Mass and the Bible are inseparable. He also examines the liturgical images in the heavenly vision in the Book of Revelation, and identifies the biblical scenes where the Mass and the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist are revealed. No registration is necessary and attendance is free, for information call Broussard at (337) 581-5230. The seminar, which runs through Feb. 19, will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church. All are invited to attend.

It’s like walking into the aftermath of a Junior High dance gathering when I walk in on Tuesday; popcorn from wall-to-wall, tables in the middle of the walkway, coffee spilt from the counter to the dining area, dirty dishes, cupboards left open. . . it must be a hoot!
The winners of Monday bridge were: Barb Kennedy, first; Bea Weinand, second. Wednesday bridge winners were: Lorraine Greenwalt, first; Betty Mansfield, second. Thursday pinochle winners were: Ike Needens, first; Betty Boorman, second. Dominoes winners were: Mark Owens, first; Elaine Elshoff, second.

QHS grad helps save boy’s life
Paul Staley, a 1979 graduate of Quincy High School, who is now a teacher at Richland High School, helped provide first aid to a freshman at the high school who had gone into cardiac arrest on Dec. 16. Staley and a fellow teacher provided CPR to the boy while another staff member arrived with an automated external defibrillator, which was used to correct the student’s heartbeat. The quick thinking by Staley and the other staff members was credited with helping to save the boy’s life.
“It was a great example of teamwork,” said the school’s principal Tim Praino to the Tri-City Herald.
