“Love Hurts” returns to FCAD

Ciara Rasmussen is bringing back the Love Hurts tennis tournament as part of the Farmer-Consumer Awareness Days celebration. The tournament will be on the high school tennis courts on Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to dusk. The entry fee is $15 for singles and $20 for doubles. The proceeds will be donated to the QHS tennis team. Rally in the Valley volleyball

The Rally in the Valley co-ed volleyball tournament enters its 20th season. The tournament will move to the southwest corner of the festival grounds, inside the baseball stadium. The pool play will begin at noon, with check-in at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per team. Four-person teams must include one female player, while two and three person unmixed teams are allowed. T-shirts will be on a first come, first serve basis. Farm-to-Market Fun Run

The annual Quincy Farm-to-Market Fun Run is set for Sept. 10.

The run will begin and end at Mtn. View Elementary School (117 D St. NW), which will allow participants to run by the Microsoft facility and past row crops, as well as orchards for the 5k runners. The 2k run and the 5k runs are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m.

Advance registration is $10 per person before Sept. 2. Late registration is $12 each and will be from 7-8 a.m. the day of the race. Awards will be given to the overall winners in the 2k and 5k races.

Registration forms will be available at local schools and at the City Recreation department. It is organized by QHS senior Sarah Martinez and sponsored by Key Bank, Quincy Foods and LarsonAllen.

Free youth trap shoot offered

Columbia Basin Pheasants Forever is offering a free youth trap shoot and barbecue on Sept. 10 from 11 to 2 p.m. at Boyd Mordhorst Shooting Range. The range is south of Ephrata on Highway 17. Pheasants Forever members will be on hand to provide instruction and all trap supplies. A free lunch will be provided for both kids and parents. To reserve a spot, contact Kevin at 765-1023. Registration deadline is Sept. 8.

Benefit softball tourney

Sonya (Gonzales) Krueger is in the midst of battling ovarian cancer and her family is putting on a benefit softball tournament to help defray expenses.

The co-ed softball tournament dubbed “Beat Cancer with a Bat” is set for Sept 10-11. The cost is $300 per team and there will be prizes for the top two teams. There will be a home run derby for both men and women, a silent auction, T-shirts for sale and a head-shaving donation booth.

Green & Gold Golf Tourney

The Green and Gold Golf Tournament, which is “promoting fitness one swing at a time” will hit the links Sept. 17 at 9 a.m.

The tournament will benefit the Green and Gold Club.
