Quincy man found guilty of protection-order violation

A jury found a 34-year-old Quincy man guilty of a felony no-contact order violation and harassment on Friday, Jan. 13.

According to a report from Grant County Prosecutor D. Angus Lee, Oscar Monroy Preciado was found guilty of the crime after a 90-minute deliberation by the jury.

The trial was for an offense made by Preciado on Oct. 2 of last year. This was the third time Preciado has been convicted of the crime.

“Because Preciado had two prior convictions for this crime, this one, his third, was a felony,” stated Lee. “We will be seeking a very long sentence for Mr. Preciado and we will also seek to have the court impose additional time for violating his probation on the earlier convictions.”

Preciado also has a prior conviction of felony forgery. The sentencing date is Jan. 24. The maximum sentencing range is six to 12 years on the felony no-contact order violation and one to 364 days on the harassment conviction.
