Razey loves being a mom

Chuck Allen/editor@qvpr.com

Allison Razey and her husband, Josh, enjoy a sunny Quincy afternoon at home with two of their children, Aiden and Keelan.

Allison Razey was born and raised in Quincy, and is proud to raise her children here. She devotes a large amount of her time to her three children, but she also has several other interests that she pursues when she can.

The Quincy Valley Post-Register recently talked with Razey about her background, family and hobbies. Here are her responses:

QVPR: How long have you lived in the Quincy Valley?

AR: I have lived in Quincy my whole life.

QVPR: What are the names of your family members?

AR: My husband’s name is Josh. Nikeyea (12 years old) is my daughter, and Keelan (3 years old) and Aiden (4 months old) are my boys. I come from a large family, Russ and Sherrie Cole are my parents, and I have four siblings — Tabitha, Bethany, Timothy, and Kristen. I am the middle child.

QVPR: How and when did you meet your husband?

AR: I have pretty much always known Josh. His younger sisters and I went to school together, and we have been friends since we were little. Eight years ago a mutual friend set Josh and I up, and we hit it off right away! We have been married for five years now.

QVPR: Did you go and live somewhere else after graduating from high school? If so, what did you do there and what was it like?

AR: When I graduated from high school I moved to Yakima with my sister Tabitha and brother-in-law Doug. I went to college at Yakima Valley Community College for accounting and loved it. However, being away from my friends and the rest of my family was tough, so I transfered to Wenatchee Valley Community College and moved in with my best friend Katie Lankhaar. When Josh and I started dating I ended up back in Quincy to be closer to him and his daughter Nikeyea.

QVPR: What are your current and past jobs?

AR: I have worked at quite a few different places over the years, but my favorite jobs have always been centered around accounting. That is what I went to school for. The last job I had was for a company helping to build Microsoft called McKinstry. I did accounting/payroll for them. I loved it, but after having my son Keelan I went back to work for six weeks before quitting to open a daycare. I could not stand to be away from my son. My daycare started with six kids and then last year I hired my assistant Kate and we are now licensed for 12 children. It keeps us very busy, but we have lots of fun everyday, and it allows me to stay home with my babies.

QVPR: What are some of the things that you enjoy about being a mom?

AR: I love being a mom! Raising my children is the most rewarding job in the world! The kisses and hugs are the best! My kids are little sponges and it is so fun watching them soak up new things.

QVPR: Why do you like living in the Quincy Valley?

AR: I really like the small town living. I enjoy being able to walk to the park with my kids whenever I want and not having to fight traffic to go to the grocery store.

QVPR: What are your hobbies?

AR: There is not much time for hobbies after my day is over; I work from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. I would really like to compete in a triathalon. My plan was to do one at the end of this month, but having a baby four months ago changed my plans, and now I plan to do one next summer.

QVPR: Anything else keep you busy? Volunteer activities, etc.?

AR: Since I enjoy accounting so much, I help a lot of my friends with their budgets and bill paying. I also prepare lots of peoples’ taxes for them.

QVPR: What is one thing that not a lot of people know about you?

AR: I would actually really like to sell everything we have, move to Haiti with my family and take over the orphanage. My husband and I would love to help get all those children adopted out.

QVPR: Your parents have been very involved in their church and have done a lot of missionary work, etc. What was it like to grow up in that type of environment, and what kind of influences have your parents had on your life?

AR: My parents are amazing people! Growing up with them as parents was great. I think watching my dad and seeing how giving he always is made me who I am today.

QVPR: Do you have any different plans for the future? Is there like a dream job out there that you’d like to pursue or anything like that?

AR: As for a dream job, I already have one. I get to stay home with my boys and play all day. It may be a lot of work, but it is the best job out there in my opinion!
