Red Wine and Blues event Saturday

The fourth annual Red Wine and Blues will be held Saturday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Parties on the Green at Twin Firs Turf.

The proceeds from last year’s event went to buying a bone density machine for the hospital, which is now officially in use. This year, the proceeds will go directly to the Quincy Valley Hospital Foundation.

“The money is going to the foundation so we can meet the needs in all the departments,” said Michele Wurl, event organizer.

Becki Sue and her Big Rockin’ Daddies out of Seattle will be performing again. Wurl said the band loves the area and loves the event.

Kerry Siderius, a watercolor artist from Wenatchee, will have prints of a painting of the event last year for sale. The posters are $25, with a limited number of 75 available.

The event is being catered by Karl Winchester from the Sunfire Grill in Crescent Bar. Winchester has made up a new menu featuring flank steak with a peppercorn glaze and grilled mahi mahi with a mango salsa.

A blind wine tasting will feature a variety of red and white wines from local and distant wineries. The winning winery will be presented with a plaque and hold bragging rights for a year.

“I just want to thank the community for continually showing up,” Wurl said. “It continues to grow and without their support we wouldn’t be able to fund as much in the hospital.”

Tickets are $65 at the hospital from Wurl or at The Grape Quincy Wine Cellar in downtown Quincy.

Tickets will also be available at the door.
