Republican caucus locations are set
Staff report
The Grant County Republican Party has designated locations across the county, including the Quincy area for the March 3 caucuses.

Republicans are asked to gather by voting precinct at the locations to begin creating a platform and electing delegates for the convention process that will lead to the nomination of the Republican candidate for President of the United States.
“This year, the caucuses are extremely important,” said county Republican chair Dani Bolyard. “This is our only way to choose our presidential nominee.”
Four years ago, the state had a presidential primary election along with the caucus to select a nominee. However state auditor Sam Reed suspended the 2012 presidential primary because of budget concerns and a recommendation by the county auditors association.
Participation in the caucuses are open to all Republicans. Visitors may be allowed entrance by consent of the precinct committee officers but are not permitted to engage in the platform discussion or to vote for delegates to t he county convention on April 7.
The precinct delegates will represent their precinct in the county’s platform discussion and will elect delegates to the state convention, which is from May 31 to June 2.
During the state convention, the state platform will be finalized and delegates to the national Republican convention will be bound to their declared candidate in the first round of national voting.
“We encourage our fellow conservatives to participate in the caucus and convention process,” Bolyard said. “This is the perfect way to make your voice heard in the political discussion.”
To determine your voting precinct, voters may call the county party at (509) 707-3367 or the elections office at 754-2011.
