Ballet performance
The Quincy School of Ballet will perform "Sleeping Beauty" on Monday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Quincy High School Performing Arts Center. The ballet features 35 local dancers. The performance is free and the public is welcome to attend. There will also be a pre-ballet performance from 5 to 5:30 p.m. prior to "Sleeping Beauty."

Masons give awards
The Quincy Masonic Lodge awarded certificates and a plaque Wednesday to four juniors and two Quincy teachers at its 38th annual school awards program. Winners were students Jessica Lerma, Kayla Horning, Yuri Reyes and Jose Valle and teachers Vicki Edwards and Charlene Hogarty.
QVS assembly held
Quincy Valley School will hold its second annual Virtue Awards Assembly on Monday, June 8 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Students have been completing writing and supportive projects to earn a ribbon in areas of character that they have studied this year. Students will present their writing, display their projects and receive their awards during the formal ceremony. The public is invited to attend the assembly, which will be in the Quincy Presbyterian Church sanctuary. At 10:30 a.m., students will visit the SageView Clinic and Quincy Community Health Clinic to deliver children’s books for use in the waiting area. Students “purchased” the books by committing to read at least 400 minutes during a recent two-week Usborne Book-A-Thon. Call the school for more information if needed at 797-5301.
Mtn. View Starshine
Mountain View Starshine Students are Saul Buenrostro, Daniela Avalos, Michael Foreman, Christopher Navarro, Christian Herrera, Asia Alvarado, Isabel Leon, Edgar Torres, Mariana Ortiz, Jared Vasquez, Melissa Inguez, Angel Hayward, Jonathan Duenes, Justina Oliveres and Alex Nathaniel “Nathan” DeCamp. They will be recognized at an assembly on June 8 at 1:30 p.m., which will be followed by a Celebration of Learning, where parents can come and view work their students have done during the year.

Neff named to list
Alois Neff was named to Dickinson State University’s Spring 2009 Dean’s List.
