School briefs: May 7

Spring program held

Quincy Valley School will hold a spring program on Thursday, May 7 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Students in kindergarten through third grade will present songs, poetry, reader’s theater and biography reports on famous scientists. In addition, students will involve the audience in a special version of the “Virginia Reel” country dance. Students’ work in science and art will be on display as well. The program will be held at the Quincy Presbyterian Church, 715 Central Ave. N. Refreshments will follow. The public is welcome to attend. Call 797-5301 for more information.

Educate Latino fair held

Big Bend Community College is hosting the annual Educate Latino Fair on May 8 from 3:30 to 8 p.m. in the ATEC Building on the Big Bend Campus. Workshops include information on the college admissions process, accessing financial aid, applying for scholarships and making college a reality for nonresident status students. Information on transfer degrees, professional technical training programs and various support services are offered at a series of booths. Latino representatives from four-year universities are also on hand. Admission is free and open to the public.

Drama camp planned

There will be a Children’s Christian Drama Camp for boys and girls in third through seventh grades. The camp will be held June 22 to 26 from 9 to 11:15 a.m. at the Quincy Christian Reformed Church, 420 H St. SE. They will learn God’s Word through drama, song and creative movement. The camp will close with an evening performance on Friday, June 26. Cost is $5 per child to be sent in with a registration before June 1. Space is limited, register early. More information and registration forms will be in next week’s Post-Register.

Lankhaar named to list

Abbralen Lankhaar was named to the Central Washington University’s President’s List for fall quarter 2008 and winter quarter 2009.
