School district gives awards
School District employees of the year award winners are, left, district nurse Lenore Low (certificated) and Pioneer Elementary librarian Pat Husband.
It was a night of awards during the Quincy School Board meeting on Tuesday, April 27.
The district recognized two employees from each building who received the annual Employee Excellence Awards.
Mountain View Elementary award recipients were Linda Landin and Sara Hausken. Sonnia Arizmendi and Alisha Porter were recognized from George Elementary. Pat Husband and Linda Dees received the award from Pioneer Elementary. Monument Elementary gave its awards to Laura Dearie and Trent Purcell. Linda Guehrn and Teresa Goninan were recognized by Quincy Junior High School. Elena Ybarra and April Murray received the Quincy High School awards. High Tech High awarded Tera Lamb and Joey Sanchez. Special Services presented awards to Katie Schooler and Lenore Low.

Husband and Low also received the district-wide awards.
Low is the nurse for Quincy School District. She worked as a nurse for Community Health and Quincy Valley Medical Center before coming to work in the school district three years ago.
During the award presentation, Low was praised as being a team player, who is always willing to work with the students and staff. She was also described as hardworking and diligent.
Husband has been the Pioneer librarian for 22 years.
“She makes the library a fabulous place,” said principal Donna Kiehn.
Kiehn praised her efforts in turning the library into a mini-museum with borrowed displays and artifacts.
“I can’t imagine Pioneer Elementary without Pat,” Kiehn said.
In other business, the board approved a grant application for money to convert a portion of the south balcony of QHS gymnasium into a fitness center.
