Cedergreen nominated for scholar program
Quincy High School senior Jay Cedergreen has been selected to represent Quincy High School as the Washington Scholars Program nominee for the 2009-10 school year.
This award recognizes academic excellence, leadership and community activities. Cedergreen was selected from a group of 13 Quincy High School seniors who have not only exhibited academic excellence with grade-point averages ranging from 3.8-4.0 during their high school careers, but who have also been active in school leadership and their community.
The Washington Scholars Program is sponsored by the Washington State Legislature and administered by the Higher Education Coordinating Board. Finalists and scholar-alternates will be announced in March. Review committees will select the top four students in each legislative district, naming three as Washington Scholars finalists and one as Washington scholar-alternate.
The finalists, their parents and their high school principals will be invited to Olympia for a special event this spring. The program provides four-year college scholarships to Washington colleges and universities.
