Senior News: April 29

I ARRIVED AT WORK Monday morning to a disturbing sight. Our Senior Center building was broken into over the weekend. I calmly called 911. Then I called our board president. A call to the City came next, as our building actually belongs to the City. I subsequently waited for the process of investigation so we could clean up and resume operations. A search revealed that only one item was stolen, yet some things were destroyed in the process.

But that’s not the point. Why any person would break in to steal a single item is beyond me. We are a service-oriented organization, devoted to the well-being of our elder population. We also serve the public as needs arise. Private individuals rent our building to provide for our operations expenses. We are one of the cheapest places to rent in the entire north central region. Anyone who needs help and stops at our Center finds a sympathetic ear and assistance in finding the resources to meet their need.

If you know who did this, or have information that could lead to restoration and closure for the seniors, please call 787-4718, the Quincy Police Department.
