Senior News: March 25

We owe a big ‘thank you’ to the Quincy Community Center, which is making it possible for our Thursday meals to continue while our kitchen is under reconstruction. We have our new fixtures arriving and we are waiting with baited breath for a remodel bid to be approved. This could take another four weeks.

Once a contractor is chosen, though, things could move rather quickly. You are welcome to stop in to the Senior Center Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to see the progress and have a cup of coffee.

We are excited to announce activities to take place when we resume our schedule at the Senior Center. Sue Anez, RN CRN CLNP (stands for lots of medical knowledge and experience), is preparing to teach two classes; CPR/First Aid, and Emergency Preparedness. On Friday, May 25, we have scheduled the CPR/First Aid class, which will include certification, provided a person stays for the whole class and passes the test.

Class size is limited to 10 people, age 17 and up, so if we get enough interest in these subjects, we may get her to return and repeat class days.

More information, such as times, fees and content, is available in our newsletter, available at community meals on Thursday. You can also call 787-3231 for information.

Lunch for Rotary and dinner for the rest of us at the Quincy Community Center at 6 p.m. is minestrone soup, tossed salad, biscuits and blueberry crisp for dessert.
