Greenwalt leads Jacks

The Jacks were unable to advance a golfer to state this year, as the district tournament at Lakeview Golf and Country Club was dominated by Prosser, Othello and Ephrata. The Mustangs qualified four for state and Othello and Ephrata advanced three to state with the medalist coming from Tiger sophomore Andrew Whalen (35-36--71).

As a team, Quincy placed seventh and was led by freshman Aaron Greenwalt with a 96. Sophomore Kip Slusher followed with a 103, while Josh Schwint had a 108, Brian Evens fired a 112, Mario Arizmendi had a 116 and Jeremy Guthas carded a 120.

Gimlin hoops returns June 12

The 7th Annual Dru Gimlin 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is slated for June 12 from 8 a.m. to dusk. The tournament will be in downtown Quincy and is open to both boys and girls from grades third through 12th, as well as 18-open and adult divisions. The tournament benefits the Dru Gimlin Foundation. Summer swim season beginning

The summer swim season is fast approaching and this season the team will be open to swimmers 6 to 18 years of age.

The Knodell siblings (Jay, Bonnie and Colleen) will be the coaching staff and the season will begin June 14. Practices will run daily from 8-9:30 a.m. at the Quincy Aquatic Center and meets are Wednesday nights beginning at 5 p.m. The cost to join is $40.

Mora Memorial tournament

The 21st Annual Tony Mora Sr. Memorial Men's Softball Tournament is just a few weeks away. The yearly 16-team tournament at North Park and the high school softball fields, will be June 25-27. The round robin format will have two divisions and the cost is $235 per team.
