Support a great local ambassador
If you haven’t had the pleasure of getting to know Kylie Kooistra, I urge you to take an opportunity to do so on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Not only is Kylie a wonderful young lady, who grew up right here in the Quincy Valley and is working as a para-professional for the Quincy School District, she is also Miss Rodeo Washington for 2012.
Her coronation is Saturday at the Quincy Community Center, beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets for the event are $20 and can be reserved by calling 398-6163 or be purchased at the door. Admission includes dinner. Along with the food, there will be an auction to help raise money for her travels this year as Miss Rodeo Washington.

I recently heard a presentation from Kylie and I was surprised to learn that she receives almost no financial support during her term as Miss Rodeo Washington. So the money she raises through the coronation event will greatly help her cover travel expenses to go to rodeos, parades and competitions all over the country to promote Washington and rodeo. During her term, she will also be an ambassador for our community, which she said she loves and enjoys talking about to those she meets.
Kylie, who graduated from Quincy High School in 2006 and is a student at Eastern Washington University, is a wonderful representative for our community and our state. We can be proud to have her on the road telling people about our corner of the world.
I plan on attending her coronation event on Saturday and I hope to see you all there, too.
