Three 15-year-old boys suspected of numerous burglaries in Quincy were arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

According to a report from Sgt. Paul Snyder of the Quincy Police Department, the boys are suspected of 12 burglaries within the past two months. They have confessed to 10 of them, along with one other friend, also under 16 years old.

Police officers confiscated more than 100 stolen items, including seven gaming consoles, 10 gaming controllers, more than 50 video games, one air-soft gun, power tools, five cell phones, two iPods, three digital cameras, one laptop computer, three backpacks and two DVD players.

According to police, the suspects would first knock on the front door of a residence. If there was no answer, they would break windows or throw rocks through the sliding glass doors at the rear of the house. After they gained entry, they would take whatever they could fit into multiple backpacks. Then the suspects would take the items home or stash their stolen goods in brush or nearby weed piles to later retrieve them.

They would also take their stolen goods to an apartment where they received cash for the items, which were later sold throughout the city.

The Quincy Police Department is seeking help from the public with information that may help solve these burglaries or other criminal activity. To contact the QPD, call 787-4718 or e-mail crimetips@quincypd.org.

Also, police are asking residents to call 911 to report suspicious people who are knocking on doors and leaving the scene if they discover someone is at home.
