Wenceslaus Albert (Jim) Kortan
Wenceslaus Albert (Jim) Kortan passed away on the evening of Jan. 4, 2010 at a hospital in Nampa.
Jim was born in Tabor, S.D. on July 20, 1913 to Vaclav and Mary Kortan. Jim had two brothers and one sister. He grew up on a farm in Tabor. In 1941, he married Alma Koenig. They farmed on the Kortan homestead and had four children while there.
In 1949, Jim, with his family, moved to a farm on Amity Ave. in Nampa, Idaho, where they had three more children. He resided there for 58 years and the last year moved to Park Place Assisted Living in Nampa.

Jim is survived by his seven children: Larry (Pat) Kortan of Nampa, Janet Dowell of Boise, Idaho, Pat (Ron) Becker of Nampa, Jean (Steve) Biggs of Iola, Texas, Tom (Shari) Kortan of Nampa, Rick (Marie) Kortan of Phoenix, Ariz., and Connie (Bill) Wrenfrow of Payette, Idaho. He is also survived by two siblings, Dave Kortan of Tabor, S.D. and Marie Schuch of Denver, Colo. He has 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, who passed on Jan. 12, 2008; his parents Vaclav and Mary; one brother; one nephew and other extended family.
Funeral Mass was celebrated for Jim at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nampa on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Park Place Assisted Living in Jim’s name. Arrangements were under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel Caldwell.
