Quincy High School's baseball program has a tradition of sending players to participate on summer select squads, and this year is no different.
Jackson Hodges, who will be a senior at QHS next year, is playing for the Wenatchee-based Apple Valley Packers this summer.
Hodges, who was selcted as a first-team All-Central Washington Athletic Conference utility player this spring after hitting over .400 with a team-leading three home runs, caught the notice of Packers head coach Ryan Hadfield last year. Hodges is catching and playing third base for the Packers.
On Monday, Hodges went 1-for-3 with two runs batted in in Apple Valley's 14-7 loss to the Kennewick Bandits.
On Tuesday, the Packers split a doubleheader with Kennewick to run their record to 5-7.
The Packers are a member of the Central Washington American Legion League and feature players from Wenatchee, Eastmont, Cascade, Manson, Okanogan and Quincy high schools. They have 47 games scheduled this summer.
Hodges will be playing with and against some of the state's top talent.
"This league is one of the premier leagues in the United States," according to the Packers' website. "The players involved in this program represent many of the best players in North Central Washington from Omak to Wenatchee."
