Sorry state of football in Washington

I love football.

And that's a problem right now because football in Washington stinks.

The combined records of the Seattle Seahawks, the Washington State Cougars (my alma mater) and Washington Huskies (a team I love to hate, but can't this year because they are so bad) is 2-13. And it's not like these teams are even competitive. Last week, all three lost by a combined score of 120-3. The Cougars had the narrowest margin of defeat, losing to a bad UCLA team 28-3.

I had high hopes for the Seahawks, but they appear to be a team that all the sudden became too old, slow, small and stupid to be competitive.

What's that you say, there's always high school football? Well things are also pretty tough for our local eleven. They are short on experienced players and have struggled with depth, which leads to struggling on the field and no victories so far this year.

Well, I could always watch the baseball playoffs. But I've grown weary of following baseball because the hapless Seattle Mariners have sucked all the joy out of the National Pastime for me.

At least basketball season is right around the corner. Maybe this is the year that Seattle's pro team will be able to put it together. Their young talented players could make some serious noise this year and start laying the groundwork for a championship-quality team.

Too bad I have to go to Oklahoma City to watch them.

I need to take up skiing.
