Jan. 19, 2012 - The Quincy Police Department received a bundle of new things from the Quincy City Council during its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
Open house for new library is tonight
Jan. 19, 2012 - Quincy Valley residents are all invited to enjoy their new public library during an open house event tonight (Thursday, Jan. 19) from 5 to 8 p.m. The library, at 208 S. Central Ave., has been open for about a month and now it is fully prepared for the grand opening.
Neighborhood schools meeting tonight at center
Jan. 19, 2012 - The Quincy School District will hold a community information night on Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Quincy Community Center, 115 F St. SW, to give community members an update on the latest progress in converting Mountain View Elementary and Pioneer Elementary schools into kindergarten through third-grade neighborhood schools for the 2012-13 school year. The meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m.
Quincy man found guilty of protection-order violation
Jan. 19, 2012 - A jury found a 34-year-old Quincy man guilty of a felony no-contact order violation and harassment on Friday, Jan. 13.
City agrees to library district’s proposed rate of reimbursement
Jan. 19, 2012 - At the urging of Mayor Jim Hemberry, the Quincy City Council, on Tuesday, Jan. 17, approved a proposal by the North Central Regional Library to reimburse the city for its expenses in operating the new Quincy Public Library based on the square-footage of the building.
Quincy considers benefits for reserve police
Jan. 12, 2012 - The City of Quincy is looking into bolstering its policing by offering an incentive for reserve police officers and crafting an ordinance to fine adults who allow teen drinking parties. The City Council discussed both matters during its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Jan. 12, 2012 - All in attendance at the new Habitat for Humanity open house on Sunday, Jan. 8 stood in silent reverence as Pastor Tom DeDoes blessed the new home of Antonio and Rosario Vazquez. DeDoes quoted from Proverbs 24: 3-4 which says, “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”
Teen burglary ring is busted
