YOUR TURN
Create an environment for success
July 30, 2009 - This summer, many business leaders traded their offices for classrooms to mentor high school students at Washington Business Week. For me, it was the first time I was a company advisor since the early 1980s, and boy did I learn a lot.
It's time for school vouchers for all
July 23, 2009 - Recently, the Associated Press reported that hundreds of New York City public school teachers accused of offenses ranging from insubordination to sexual misconduct are being paid full salary with benefits to sit around all day playing Scrabble, surfing the Internet or just doing what they please.
Proposal for win-win at Crescent Bar
July 16, 2009 - Being a Crescent Bar resident myself, I am concerned why no one has touched on a few very important facts before now: 100 percent of the 200 individual year-round residents of Crescent Bar are senior citizens! Every single one! Senior citizens who have previously and in most cases, long ago, retired and sold their primary residences and are living on a fixed income and if any, the appreciation they have realized from their primary sale of that previous residence/property.
Don't take independence for granted
July 09, 2009 - INDEPENDENCE: According to World Book Dictionary, the freedom from control.
Crescent Bar owners do contribute
July 02, 2009 - Being a current resident of the Crescent Bar Island, I have read most all of the letters and comments made by your readers/contributors.
'Buy American' comes with a catch
June 25, 2009 - On the surface, “Buy America” sounds patriotic and a no-brainer. It seems like the right thing to do because it supports American workers and companies.
Don't be hasty with healthcare reform
June 18, 2009 - There’s an old saying, “Act in haste, repent at leisure.” It means that acting too quickly causes major problems later.
Diversified economy good for country
June 11, 2009 - Agriculture is an economic staple for counties located in the farm belt of our nation, and agricultural counties with a diversified economy have generally seen more job and income growth than those that rely solely on agriculture. We are fortunate to have a food processing sector that adds considerable value to commodity crops. This value- added processing has resulted in major capital investment by a number of food processors on the property tax rolls and a large number of jobs in our community. As a result, our economy has grown and our communities have prospered.
Correcting comments on Crescent Bar
June 04, 2009 - Having read about many opinions regarding the future of Crescent Bar Island, I feel compelled to write, and in some instances, correct what is being said. My neutrality will surely not settle this issue, as it will pose many questions and just as many mitigating situations as viewed from both sides of the fence.
PUD board seeks Crescent Bar input

Included among these is a directive that Grant PUD develop a plan to “protect and enhance Crescent Bar Island,” which is owned by you - Grant PUD ratepayers. A series of meetings have been scheduled to gather input from you, the public, on the following dates at 7 p.m:
