Quincy High School Junior TreyVaughn Bierlink was one of 12 student athletes named Athlete of the Week from the WIAA and Gesa Credit Union for week 16.

“It is an honor to gain recognition for all the hard work that not only I, but the team has put in even though its an individual award. Looking forward to big things coming soon for the Jacks,” Bierlink said.

Each week, the WIAA and Gesa Credit Union recognizes Washington student-athletes for outstanding performances and impactful contributions in their communities. Selections are based on nominations. All students in good academic standing at their schools are eligible to receive the Athlete of the Week Award. Students may win the award once during any given academic year.

Bierlink was selected for his contributions to the Quincy Basketball team this season. “Bierlink played three games last week, averaging 23 points and nine rebounds per contest. He had 29 points, including six 3-pointers, and 12 rebounds against Ephrata. Two days later, his 18 points aided in the victory over Omak. Last, versus Chelan, he registered 22 points and 12 rebounds,” the WIAA noted.

Each winner receives a letter of recognition from the WIAA Executive Director, a Certificate of Achievement and a $25 DICK’S Sporting Goods gift card.

“I’m very proud of TreyVaughn and how he has developed this year. He has been putting in the work and it’s good to see him get rewarded for his efforts,” Coach Scott Bierlink said. “He also has great teammates that make it possible for him to do the things he does. So credit to TreyVaughn and his teammates for this recognition.”

Winners are announced weekly on the WIAA website, WIAA Live mobile app and on social media.
