With the wrap up of the cross country season Coach Andrew Schmitt reflected on the hard work the Jacks put in:

“This year the Cross Country team embodied one of the most important aspects of a championship mindset, ‘Focus only on what you can control.’

With COVID-19 precautions in a constant state of flux, this team showed up to each practice determined to be better than they were yesterday.

In only six weeks, Kevin Calixto, Emmanuel Birrueta, Alexis Birrueta, Ruth Flores, and Marisol Uribe were all able to improve their 5k times by over two minutes from the beginning to the end of the season.

We also want to recognize Jane Kennedy for finishing her senior season strong with a 9th place finish at Districts and 14th place finish at Regionals.

Whether it was challenging each other to run faster, celebrating other athlete’s successes, supporting each other through the ups and downs of a season, this team demonstrated great camaraderie.

Finally, I want to recognize the contributions that our two seniors, Kevin and Jane, made to the XC program during their time in high school. We wish them success as they finish their senior years and move into the next stages of their lives.”
