Grant Public Utility District recently completed improvements to recreation sites around the county in early 2021.

Grant PUD Manager of Lands and Recreation Shannon Lowry highlighted the improvements at the most recent commissioners meeting on Jan. 12

The already completed improvements include a rebuild of the Buckshot Recreation Area that was damaged in a wildfire back in 2017, and installing a replacement launch float at the Wanapum Upper Boat Launch, according to a news release from the PUD.

Lowry also noted that even with the 67-day closure due to the pandemic in 2020, usage of the utility’s campgrounds and Crescent Bar Golf Course have steadily increased. Compared to the previous year, overall campsite use increased about 31% in 2020, according to the news release. Also, total usage of the golf course increased by more than 19% in 2020 compared to 2018, according to the release.
