The Lady Jacks Basketball team took their first victory of the season at Quincy High School on Saturday when they blew past Wahluke to win 55-27.

While Wahluke managed to get on the board first, Quincy quickly took the lead with a basket and a free throw to bring the score to 3-2 with 5:45 left in the first quarter.

Emilee Morris, Jane Kennedy, Emily Wurl and Joceline Schaapman all scored in the first quarter bringing them to a modest lead of 16-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Quincy brought their lead to triple Waluke’s score by the end of the second quarter. With 15 more points, Quincy was leading 31-9.

The third quarter saw Kennedy, Schaapman and Morris add 13 points to the Quincy score. Wahluke added only seven, bringing the end of the third quarter to 44-16.

The final quarter saw points from Schaapman, Morris and Bianna Herrera ending the game 55-27.

“We still have a lot of improving to do but our goals are set high and the girls are ready to put in the work,” Head Coach Micaiah McCreary said.

Their next home game is May 29, against Cascade at 4 p.m.
