The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the final year of school for everyone, especially seniors. The Post-Register would like to recognize the following senior members of the QHS FFA Club who will not get to finish their final activities as normal. Comments were submitted by FFA Advisor Rodney Cool.

Miguel Flores is a two-year member of the Quincy FFA.  He competed in the Apple CDE and Soils/Land Judging and served as the greenhouse manager his senior year.   He cared for the FFA greenhouse plants throughout the shutdown watering plants twice a day and monitoring and adjusting growing conditions making for a successful spring plant sale. 

Lilly Groesel is a one-year member of the FFA but she had only been in our country this year.  She is a Rotary Exchange Student from Germany.  She jumped into FFA with both feet.  She was a member of the Range CDE team that competed at the Western National Range CDE in Elko, Nevada in November.  She was on the Ag Communications CDE team, as well.   She was an integral part of the Hippity Hop Flower Shop and worked in the Greenhouse

Cooper Raap is a 4-year FFA member with 2 years in the Quincy FFA.  He competed in the Horse, Livestock, Potato, Apple, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Employment Skills and Range CDE/LDEs.  He was the State winner in Diversified Agriculture Proficiency Award in 2019 and is the District IX and State Finalist for the State Star Farmer.   He was in the Hippity Hop Flower Shop and worked in the Greenhouse. 

Gavin Sahli is a 4-year Quincy FFA member.  He has served as a Chapter and District Officer.  He competed in First Year, Apple, Tractor Driving, Ag Sales, Hall of Chapters, Hall of States, Employment Skills, and Extemporaneous Public Speaking.   He was on 7 state placing teams, 1 National Placing team, and was the individual state Tractor Driving Champion in 2018.  He was the State Nursery Management Proficiency Award Winner and is the District IX and a State Finalist for Star in Agribusiness.  He was in the Hippity Hop Flower Shop and worked as Greenhouse manager in 2019. 

Jose Avila is a 4-year Quincy FFA member.  He competed on the Apples Team and in Soils/Land Judging CDEs.  He was a member of the Hippity Hop Flower Shop crew and worked in the Greenhouse, as well.
