George local Shree Saini has been named Miss World America Washington 2020 and will be competing for the national title in a few short weeks.
With the title Miss World America Washington under her belt, Saini will be competing nationally for the title Miss World America on Oct. 16. The winner of Miss World America will go on to represent the United States at the Miss World competition in 2021. The competition is usually held at the end of each year after each country has selected its representative in the competition. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the pageant has been pushed back to a date in 2021 that will be announced later on. This will be the 70th annual Miss World competition.
Saini was also Miss World America Washington in 2019. While at the national competition in 2019, she collapsed backstage and was rushed to the hospital. This incident has only cemented her passion for service and goal to become Miss World.
A large part of the Miss World Organization focuses on service. Just earlier this year, the organization helped raise $4,084,646 at the 46th annual Variety Children’s Charity Telethon fundraiser. Saini was in attendance of this event.
Saini has volunteered with many charitable organizations such as the American Heart Association and the Victoria Siegel Foundation.
Saini had a complete heart block that resulted in her receiving a pacemaker at age 12. She is also a facial burns survivor. Despite all the challenges she has faced, Saini said that she feels that if she has a heartbeat, then she has a purpose.
