Quincy Police Department delivered Thanksgiving meal supplies to 10 local families on Nov. 17.

Each meal package contained a turkey, ham, bag of rolls, can of green beans, can of olives, gravy, box of stuffing, two pies, a pan for cooking, a 10 pound bag of potatoes and two bags of apples. The meal supplies were delivered directly to each family’s door by officers.

Along with the meals, children in the families received stuffed animals. The stuffed animals had wishlists attached for the children to fill out.

The families who received the meals will also be helped for Christmas.

Local businesses contributed to the meals. The Flower Basket provided the stuffed animals, Blakal Packing provided the potatoes, Sky Ranch Fruit Growers donated the apples and the rest of the food included in the meals were provided by Quincy IGA Market.

"I am in awe this year of the generosity from citizens and local businesses. Due to everyone’s support we were able to feed 10 families and within those families are 28 children. These same families get Christmas this year. Seeing the happiness on each child’s face makes it all worth it." said Officer Jazzlyn Silva, organizer of the Thanksgiving meals.
