Two Quincy Police Department officers have earned department honors after responding to an October incident.

At the end of October, Quincy Police Department Officers Isaiah Graham and Abraham Guzman arrived at the scene to find a male subject unconscious. According to the letter of recommendation by Sergeant Chris Lafferty, the officers made contact with the subject’s family who said they believed he had taken narcotics.

Officer Graham administered two separate doses of Narcan in between sessions of chest compressions. Officers Graham and Guzman gave CPR for about six minutes before the subject regained consciousness. At that point in time, EMS arrived and took over treatment.

“Watching the BWC video of this incident I observed two officers showing genuine concern for this individual and his family, while giving their best effort to revive the man, with successful results. I am extremely proud of them and recommend them for the department’s ‘Life Saving Award.’” Sergeant Lafferty said in the letter.

The recommendation came at the beginning of November and at a department wide meeting on Jan. 26, Officers Graham and Guzman received the award together.
