One person died and two others were transported to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee on Saturday evening after a two-car collision on State Route 28 West at milepost 16.

Jesus Ibarra Barragan, 41, of Quincy was driving westbound on State Route 28 with a passenger just after 7:30 p.m. when the vehicle, a 2001 Nissan Maxima, drifted to the right shoulder. Ibarra Barragan overcorrected and crossed the center line, striking another vehicle heading eastbound, according to a memo from the Washington State Patrol.

The eastbound vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Zachary Turner, 30, also of Quincy, went over the guardrail and came to a rest on the south shoulder of State Route 28. The vehicle driven by Ibarra Barragan came to a rest blocking the eastbound lane.

The 36-year-old passenger in the vehicle with Ibarra Barragan died at the scene of the incident, according to the memo. The passengers name, sex and residency was redacted from the memo.

Ibarra Barragan is facing charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault. The cause of the collision is under investigation. Alcohol or drugs were invloved in the accident, according to the memo.

All involved in the collision were wearing seatbelts, according to the memo, and both vehicles were totaled.
